April - May 2011
The Joinery, Arbour Hill, Stoneybatter, Dublin 7

Solo show, comprised of three pieces: Room installation (including the animation ‘The Adventures of Spoony Magee’), Streakers, an interactive video installation, and Spoons (5 framed teaspoon sculptures).

Streakers was the first solo show by Jacinta Jardine, and formed part of the Joinery’s Graduate Programme. The exhibition comprised of new video, sculpture and interactive media pieces, along with an adapted version of Jacinta’s graduate installation. Jacinta’s practice centres on audience participation and contemporary cultural mindsets; she creates mundane situations and injects them with flashes of light-hearted humour and diversion, focusing on ideas of play, imagination and exploration. This show was particularly influenced by the oppressive despondency which seemed to engulf Irish society at the time; it aimed to create, if only momentarily, an escape from it.
