Mixed media installation
So many humans go about their lives weighed down by the hefty strain of existence; through incessant emphasis on the bad, we are becoming progressively blinded to the good aspects of life. The intent of this installation is to stimulate a carefree, giddy energy in the viewer, which temporarily soothes everyday burdens and facilitates an escape from the mundanity of daily life. What initially appears to be a dull, commonplace scene opens up to reveal a secret dimension, where curiosity is rewarded with unexpected happenings which seem to materialize out of their surroundings. Despite the fantastical qualities of these miniature manifestations, they all take root in existent places and situations; in their unassuming, humble manner they disclose some of the many little splendours that our world contains, quietly reminding us that life isn’t always as bad as it seems.
